Implemented retention controls

These controls are enforced by the service today:

Account-linked recent place views	90 days after the last view	Keeps recent-place history useful without retaining it indefinitely.
Browser-only recent place views	90 days after the last view	Provides the same short-lived browsing convenience without an account.
Place comparison choices	Until you clear them	A saved comparison is a user-selected preference.

Operator-approved schedule

The following schedule applies unless a longer period is required to meet a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, protect the service, or preserve a lawful archival record.

Account, profile, private dog-care, and saved data	Until you delete your account	Provides the account and dog-care features you request for as long as you keep an account.
Recent place views	90 days after the last view	Keeps recent-place history useful without retaining it indefinitely.
Place comparison choices	Until you clear them	A saved comparison is a preference you set.
Published contributions and moderation records	For as long as needed to publish and protect the integrity of the service	Maintains reliable public place information and an auditable moderation trail.
Application and security logs	30 days	Supports troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and security investigation.
Database backups and Lightsail snapshots	30 days	Enables disaster recovery and point-in-time restoration.

Deletion requests and exceptions

A signed-in account holder can download account data and request account deletion from the account area. Deletion can be limited where content has already been published, a legal obligation applies, a dispute is unresolved, or a security/audit record must be retained. Backups may take additional time to age out under the approved schedule.
